Obituary of Darwin Ray Chang

Darwin Ray Chang, 98, passed away on October 10, 2015 at home. He was born in Rugao, China, outside Shanghai, and was a life-long resident of Madison, NJ. Mr. Chang received a degree in Civil Engineering from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from Cornell University, NY. Mr. Chang was an entrepreneur who with his wife, Yen Ma Chang, owned and operated the Four Seas Cuisines of China Restaurant, Central Ave., Madison. The restaurant eventually moved to Main Street in Madison where it is currently known as Shanghai Jazz® Restaurant & Jazz Club. He is survived by his four children, Leslie, Martha, Susan and Gordon as well as his grandchildren, Winnie, Joann, Michael, Alex, Colin, Henry, and Maxwell. Mr. Chang was predeceased by his wives, Yen Ma Chang in 2003 and Sylvia Camilla Guthrie Chang in 1959. Visiting hours for Mr. Chang will be on Sunday, October 18, from 12 pm to 2pm with a service immediately following at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home, 106 Main St., Madison, NJ 07940. Interment will be private.
