Obituary of Judith A. Oakley

Judith Oakley (nee Davitt), March 5, 1943, passed away on February 1, 2024.

Judy was the daughter of Francis and Lillian Davitt and was born in Morristown, raised in Morris Township, married Bill Oakley, and lived in Hanover Township. She attended Morris Township Schools and graduated from Madison High in 1961. She graduated from Katharine Gibbs Business School and she was hired as an executive secretary at Allied Chemical. In later years she served the Morris School District Child Study Team.

She was an active member of the Morris Plains Presbyterian Church. Judy was an ordained Deacon, sang in the Celebration Singers (choir), taught church school, and worked in the Joyful Noise Nursery School. Judy was a retired member of the Whippanong Garden Club (had a green thumb), and enjoyed attending the Hanover Township Senior Fitness Club twice a week. She loved playing tennis and was captain of her weekly Wednesday doubles team at Twin Oaks Tennis Center. These ladies also took weekly bridge lessons at Morristown High School together.

Judy and her family loved vacationing at LBI, Anna Maria Island, and Destin, FL. She was a member of Ginty Pool for 50 years.

Judy was married to her husband, Bill, in 1965, and they had over 58 happy years together. Judy is survived by her husband and daughter, Karen Oakley of Morristown, and her brother, Richard of Destin, FL.

Arrangements are by Dangler Funeral home. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 10, 2024 at 11:00 AM at the Morris Plains Presbyterian Church, 400 Speedwell Ave, Morris Plains, NJ 07950. Donations to the Church would be appreciated, in lieu of flowers.
