Mary Elizabeth Beaman

Lifelong Madison Resident, Beloved Wife, Mother, and Grandmother

Mary (Luciano) Beaman, 92 years old, passed away peacefully on November 14th, 2023.  Born on May 6th, 1931, Mary lived her entire life in Madison, NJ as a devoted member of St. Vincent’s Martyr parish. She graduated from Bayley Ellard High School and then attended St. Elizabeth’s College for several years before leaving to work in her father’s produce store in town. It was during this time that Mary met the love of her life in Allen Beaman.  Mary and Al would end up raising five children together.

Her family and her religion were always front and center in Mary’s life. She was a regular at weekday 8:30am masses and then again on Sunday’s at 9:00am. Mary made sure that all her children had a solid religious foundation as part of their upbringing.  And she was known to make her husband Al find catholic churches when they were on vacation so she would not miss a weekend mass while away.

Mary’s passion in life was her family and friends.  She was very proud of her home, making sure it was always ready in case an impromptu party happened.  She loved to entertain family and friends. She could whip up a meal or snacks for anyone who showed up at her house. Mary was an amazing cook who loved to make her children’s favorite meal for their birthdays each year. Gatherings at Mary’s house were always a special event enjoyed by those who were there.

When her children got older, Mary went back out into the workforce and began a career in retail.  She started at B Altman’s in the Short Hills Mall and eventually moved over to Lord & Taylors in the Livingston Mall. She primarily worked in each store’s household goods departments. She maintained her area the same way she did her home, everything displayed perfectly with Mary there to greet her customers with a smile and a willingness to make sure they were taken well care of.

Mary is predeceased by her husband Allen, her parents Patsy and Hazel Luciano, her in-laws Frederick and Mildred Beaman, her brother Salvatore Luciano, her sons Robert and Daniel as well as her daughter Mary Ellen. She is survived by her sister-in-law Anne Luciano (wife of Salvatore), her brother Pat Luciano and his wife Eileen, her children Helen and William (and his wife Noreen) as well as Daniel’s wife, Dr. Kim McFadden. Mary was the loving grandmother to Elizabeth, Emily (and her husband Nick Bancroft), and Jack as well as an aunt to many nieces and nephews that she loved like they were her own kids. She lived a long and wonderful life and will be missed by all those she met.

Funeral service will be held at St Vincent’s Martyr Church in Madison, NJ on Monday November 20th at 10:00am.  (For those that cannot attend the Funeral Mass in-person, it will be live-streamed via the Church's website : www.svmnj.org). Visitation will be held on Sunday November 19th from 4-7pm at Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler Funeral Home 106 Main St Madison, NJ 07940.
