Edna Janet Disbrow

Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother and a caring and devoted friend to all who knew and loved her

Janet Disbrow loved life and never stopped learning – whether it was finding a new recipe, how best to make her plants and gardens thrive (yes, she talked to all of them!) or staying abreast of current events, politics, and pop culture. Her favorite room was her kitchen making amazing meals and her favorite place was working in the middle of her many gardens creating a symphony of color.

She was a librarian in the Florham Park Library always available to help anyone who needed her guidance finding their way through the library to a quiet reading spot or a cherished book. Helping others was key to her nature. An avid reader herself, she had an overflowing library with diverse interests loving mysteries, gardening, cooking, travel and anything British. She took special pleasure in high tea at the Fairmont Empress Hotel in BC, Canada.

Traveling was only one of Janet’s many passions. She loved visiting new places - Italy, England, Scotland, Austria, Switzerland, Holland, Cape Cod, Alaska, to name just a few adventures. Every road trip would not be complete without a roadmap, even with GPS, as she was the consummate navigator.

Janet was a great teacher to all having led Cub Scout and Girl Scout troops to explore nature and learn to appreciate the wonders of the outdoors. She taught her children to love nature and be curious and respectful of all animals. Her home was always a caring stopover for injured or sick animals and her compassion for any living creature was clearly passed on to both of her children.

Janet is survived by her children, Douglas and Debbie Disbrow and her two grandchildren Campbell and Willa Disbrow.

A private memorial service will be held at the Presbyterian Church of Madison, NJ. Arrangements are under the care of Burroughs, Kohr & Dangler, Madison.

If you wish to donate in honor of Janet’s life, please consider donating to St Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center in Madison, NJ, Best Friends Animal Society, the ASPCA or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, all charities she supported throughout her lifetime.

Your life was our blessing, and you shall never be forgotten.
